Diary of an Elephant Orphan follows Khanyisa, a baby elephant newly orphaned, on her journey in becoming strong enough to join a herd of her own. This is easier said than done, however, as Khanyisa’s health is unpredictable, leading to her rescuers battling to keep her alive.

Plot Summary

Diary of an Elephant Orphan takes us through the struggles and turmoils of orphaned baby elephants and the people who have made it their life’s mission to save them. Khanyisa, a baby elephant that was caught in a wire trap, is the newest addition to the elephant sanctuary. There, her thirst for survival is matched only by the passion of the people tasked with raising her. We see Khanyisa at her best, and we cry with her caretakers at her worst. All of this effort is not in vain, as the ultimate goal—introducing Khanyisa to a new herd—is always on the horizon and something she craves
