Biography
Brett Michael Innes is a bestselling author and award-winning filmmaker based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Born in 1983 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Brett Michael Innes graduated from AFDA, the Oscar-winning South African film school, on a scholarship from the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF) of South Africa. His writing and directing debut, Sink, saw him win the SAFTA for Best Film and Best Screenplay for 2017. His sophomore film, an adaptation of the iconic novel Fiela Se Kind, was also awarded the SAFTA for Best Film and Best Screenplay for 2020. Simultaneously, his best-selling novel The Story of Racheltjie de Beer was adapted into a feature in 2019, with Brett attached as screenwriter with director, Matthys Boshoff.
